Hoisting Of The World’s First 850,000 Kilowatt Hydro-Generator

The world’s first 850,000 kilowatt hydroelectric generator rotor was successfully hoisted at the Wudongde Hydropower Station on the Jinsha River. The rotor diameter is 18.93 meters, the weight is about 1,820 tons, and the total lifting weight is about 2048 tons. This hoisting indicates that the unit installation of Wudongde Hydropower Station has entered the final assembly stage.

Wudongde Hydropower Station is the first cascade power station developed in the cascade of the main stream of the lower reaches of the Jinsha River. It mainly generates electricity and takes into account the comprehensive benefits of flood control, shipping, and promoting local economic and social development.

Luquan County, the left bank belongs to Huidong County, Sichuan Province. Wudongde Hydropower Station installed a total of 12 850,000 kilowatts hydropower generating units with a total installed capacity of 10.2 million kilowatts. It is the fourth largest hydropower station in China and the seventh in the world that has entered the ranks of ten million kilowatts. China No. 8 Hydropower Bureau undertakes the installation and commissioning of 6 units on the right bank of Wudongde Hydropower Station.

Since the start of construction in August 2018, the Wudongde Project Department of the Eighth Hydropower Bureau has overcome many unfavorable factors, optimized construction measures, and improved management methods. The rotor bracket welding, iron core stacking, and stator off-line construction projects have achieved excellent results. Won unanimous praise from the owner and the supervisor to achieve high-quality performance.
